About us
We build the small changes that keep people at home.
Better Living Access plans, quotes and builds home adaptations across Calgary and the surrounding communities — and explains the funding that pays for them. The work ranges from a single rail to a whole bathroom, but the approach doesn't change.

Why we do this
Most people want to stay where they are.
Moving house is expensive, disruptive and often unnecessary. What usually decides whether someone can stay is a handful of physical details: a step at the door, a bathroom you can't get into safely, a worktop that's the wrong height.
Those details are fixable. The harder part is knowing what to fix, what it should cost, and who might pay for it. That's the part we spend most of our time on — the survey and the funding conversation — because getting it right at that stage is what makes the build straightforward.
We're a small team of surveyors and installers who work only on this kind of project. We don't take on general building work, and we don't sell equipment. If an adaptation isn't the right answer, we say so.
How we work
Three things we don't compromise on.
Plain language, always
If a quote needs a glossary, it isn't finished. We explain what each line is for, and what happens if it turns out to be unnecessary.
One team, survey to handover
The person who measures your home is accountable for the finish. No subcontracting the part of the job that matters.
Funding-literate, not funding-led
We'll tell you what you may qualify for, but we won't design work around a grant. The room has to work first.

How we're set up
- Survey and quote handled by the same surveyor, every job
- Written workmanship warranty handed over at the final review
- Public liability and works insurance held for every project
- Work planned in stages where the house needs to stay liveable
